Hey friends,sorry that wed and thur didn't update about my attachment,cause too tired le...hope you can understand...
Ya,on wed,worked morning shift from 1-9pm...i really started to learn hand-on skills,like taking of parameter/vital sign(temp,blood pressure,heart rate,pulse rate,oxygen level) using the machine...i first time use,very fast and fun compare taking manually =),of course still need to take the blood pressure(BP) manually to confirm again...so Rosaline,a ITE student assessed me to do for one of my patient.i also learn to take patients to toilet using commode(wheelchair)...quite interesting,cause new hand-on skill learn,cause never do this in school before..then i still not very steady in pushing the commode...first attachment,so still no licence de...haha=D
If i'm nt wrong,i remember i brought 3 patients to toilet on wed...of cause also assess by staff nurse,cause we,1st year student,still new...so need someone to supervise us...if not anything happened,then we die le...=S
i also learnt to change diaper for patient,Rose,a staff nurse taught me de...actually i just assist her...did nothing much,but at least through observation...i roughly know how to do...lastly also have learn to change bedsheet for patient who dirty or wet their bed and observe how to drain urine to measure for specific patient,done by Qing Ying and assessed by Rose=D
This was the day i started to learn in this ward...=)
On thurs,i worked in morning shift from 7am to 3pm...i learnt how to pass report,is like the midnight shift nurses,passed down the information about the patients in their cubicles to the morning shift nurses...Also have observe how to give patients gurgle to clean their mouth in the morning...Continue to bring toilet on commode to toilet to do business and i was assessed by Fem,our in-charged nurse for toilet bathing,like bath for the patient...think should be alright,is easier than what i imagine...just like bathing myself,the way is the same,is just that some is on commode...i wet my shoes lo...then feel very uncomfortable,cause like the soap also seep inside...eee...yucky,right??
Also have chance to take quite a number of parameter...=)
Then have a meeting at the utility room with Fem together with the afternoon shift student nurses to dicuss how we are doing and demostration,correction done for our BP taking...also tell us other things and areas we have to take note...Then after end at around 3pm...i went home after that,cause too tired le...
Haha...i slept very early on thurs at around 8pm like that...till the next morning 5am for my next morning shift...which is fri(Last day of this week attachment)!!!
Finally come to fri le...after this can rest for 2 day,which is the weekend...
As usual,actually by right should have sign in at 6.50am....10 min before our shift...we came before 7am...but we sign in late for about 3 min like that...then Fem quite angry,but she didn't scold us,just say later the 1pm meeting then talk to us...
So start our passing report first,then i helped one of my patient for the gurgle and feed her...yeah,she very good,finish the whole bowl of porridge...=),really need alot of patient to feed a patient...cause really need to feed them slowly,in case they choke...but my first time feeding patient,quite happy=D
Then i first time,finally have chance to take bedpan for real patient for her to urine...cause she not able to go toilet...then Kumari,year 2 nursing student,my senior...teach and helped me...not only for bedpan,she also taught me how to remove IV plug,how to make sure patient drink her enteral feed,even helped me to find information for my case study(i first to present on 4/9-next tues)...she really help me alot...Thank Kumari!!=)
Then we meet Fem again at the same room at 1pm,to disuss how to feed through Naso-gastric tube,the sterilisation procedure,why and how to put etc...she also told us the morning shift students,me included off for being 3 min late...so she make us stay 30 min more,mean till 3.30pm...but is ok for me...cause need to take information for my case study,luckily got Kumari helped me...then i was able to get the information faster...
Then we went off at 3.30pm,then me,Li En and Peter when went to 1st floor and we saw Lela,Qing Ying and Syahidah queneing up at starbuck...so we ask them and found out that on every month last friday,all staffs at TTSH able to get 50% discount for everything in starbuck...so we decided to try lo...then me and Li En share...we share Mocha drink...quite nice lah...we all drink all different...Lela drink hot coffee,QingYing drink cappucino,Syahidah drink chocolate and Peter drink raspberry(new flavour)...haha,after that we went off...
